The History and Purpose
Behind Thatcher Lewis
From Experience To Impact
Thatcher Lewis began with a simple idea learned on the job. Accountability saves lives and careers. Our founder, Chief Jon Fehlman, served in law enforcement beginning in 1984. He earned the James Q. Wilson Award for community policing and the Medal of Valor for bravery. Along the way, he saw the lack of accountability that impacts leadership. Thatcher Lewis exists to close that gap with training that turns standards into daily habits.
What Drives Us
Thatcher Lewis' purpose is to build principled leaders who lead with character and integrity. We equip leaders to communicate the mission, vision and values through the daily modeling of their leadership to their personnel.
Our work is rooted in decades of service. From the 1990s to 2020s, moving from patrol to command with community engagement, partnerships, collaboration, and leadership. We serve as a national training partner for public safety teams and public administrations.
Nationwide Delivery
Today, Thatcher Lewis operates as an educational partner dedicated exclusively to public safety (including police, fire, and EMS) and public administration. Our curriculum bridges the gap between tactical field experience and modern operational risk management.
Courses are delivered nationwide, on-site at your agency, live online, or hybrid, and every engagement is built around your own policies and general orders rather than an off-the-shelf outline.
